The Crimplesham Playing Field, managed by the Crimplesham Playing Field Trust via the Crimplesham Parish Council, is located off Main Road in the village. It serves as a vital recreational hub and features a community playground with modern equipment.

Public Rights of Way

What is a public right of way?

Public rights of way allow the public to walk, or sometimes ride, cycle or drive along specific routes over land which belong to someone else — this includes public footpaths, bridleways. Rights of way for pedestrians only. Dogs may be taken on suitable routes.

Public rights of way (PRoW) in the Norfolk village of Crimplesham include footpaths and bridleways that allow the public to traverse private land. The legal register of these routes is the Definitive Map, which is maintained by the Norfolk County Council.

Finding & Navigating Routes

Markings: Routes are typically marked on posts or stiles using standard colour-coded arrows (e.g., yellow arrows for walking paths, blue arrows for routes that allow horses or bicycles).

It is an offense to block or obstruct a public right of way. If you encounter a fallen tree, broken stile, or deliberate obstruction while walking a route in Crimplesham, you can log it directly with the local highway authority.

Local Planning Applications

Parish councils are statutory consultees in the planning system and must be notified of all planning applications in their area. While they do not have the power to approve or reject plans, their submissions are formal representations that principal planning authorities are legally required to consider.

Speed Awareness Monitor (SAM2)

The Speed Awareness Monitor, is not a camera and doesn’t take images of the vehicles!

It records the time and speed of every vehicle that passes that position.

If it doesn’t light up, you are under 27mph, and it doesn’t indicate the speed if above 45mph, but still records them!

We can use this data to assist us when we need to comment on a planning application or to show the Highway’s department the traffic data if requested.

We have 2 poles, which we are allowed to have the monitor recording in either direction.

The monitor is only allowed to be in place for up to 4 weeks then cannot be returned to that monitoring direction for 8 weeks.

General Maintenance

The Parish Council is responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of the village. If you would like to report any issues, please contact the Clerk.

Maintenance of the roads, for example dealing with potholes, is the responsibility of the County Council Highways Department. Please report any issues about potholes directly via Norfolk County Council's online reporting.
